Sure, there are things it can&amp;#39;t do, but do you &lt;i&gt;really&lt;/i&gt; need such things?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another that appears to have fallen from the grace of the programming sea is one called Rosegarden; it lacked some very essential features (such as alternate endings!) but the brilliant thing it did was to create Lilypond output to typeset the scores it &lt;i&gt;could&lt;/i&gt; produce into wonderfully professional-looking documents.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Even if they won&amp;#39;t endorse Musescore, I think bands and schools would do well to endorse the &lt;i&gt;MusicXML&lt;/i&gt; as the standard of music score interchange.  So many collections and courses provide their samples in .SIB or .MUS files that are even useless to the owners of the other product! As a raw undergraduate, I remember intellectualising the whole process, working it out on paper, before playing rather stiltedly. It was only when I returned to it that I realised that I could &amp;#39;feel&amp;#39; it rather than &amp;#39;think&amp;#39; it. These are just other tones, other colours, and the fact they are culturally charged makes them no less musically useful.  In fact, I would argue that music is bound inextricably with human beings, as Dale Purves finds a very-nearly diatonic scale in the statistical densities of formant tones in all human speech regardless of culture, so there again, tonality and a-tonality, growing closer or farther from the groundspace of those formant tone scales, is that not just more of what George Russell was saying in his Lydian Chromatic methods?
