Vanishing manuscript

Here's an article in the Washington Post about the decline of cursive skills among American schoolchildren. Is there a similar general decline in music manuscript skills among the notationally-literate? Do all institutions now permit their students to turn in computer-generated scores for assignments?

In our theory classes the students turn in hand-written examples. In fact, I've been using Finale less often in the last few years.

I encourage my students to do their harmony assignments on Finale Notepad because they can actually hear what they are writing.

Makes the world of difference for non-keyboard players, let me tell you.
