I wonder if this line of reasoning doesn't run up against a previous link where it was shown that musical groups on road trips almost always lose money...
Promotion by recordings is the key? Your .mp3s start moving and you launch the tour?
Also raises the more basic question: should it be the goal of composers to have their music performed before a live audience?
