Here's more evidence that the big online distributers are increasingly turning away from niche business, in this case via recommender systems. This is not a good development for new music.

Here's more evidence that the big online distributers are increasingly turning away from niche business, in this case via recommender systems. This is not a good development for new music.

To be a little more precise, the problem is not with all automated recommendation, but with a particular kind of recommender (those that use collaborative filtering). One of my co-workers recently gave a talk at SXSW about this and related problems.
